About CEAL


The Council for English as an Additional Language (CEAL) acts as an advocate on behalf of students learning English as a Second Language and seeks to constantly improve and promote the teaching of English as a Second Language.


ESL programs help students learn English while also learning about Canadian cultural values, customs and social expectations. The goal of ESL programs is to provide students with planned systematic instruction and support that will enable them to speak the English language fluently, further their education and become productive and contributing members of Albertan and Canadian society.



PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

The Council for English as an Additional Language is excited to share our newest professional learning offerings: Experiential EAL Active Learning Strategies, Welcoming Refugees into Our School Communities, and Vocabulary Across Disciplines.

These sessions can be delivered virtually or in person and can be tailored to full-day, half-day, or shorter formats to meet your needs.

About CEAL Executive & Table Officers

At the AGM, executive positions are voted on and takes place during the fall. With the exception of the President's, Past President and President Elect positions, all positions are one year term. The first Executive meeting will follow the AGM that day. At this meeting, appointments will be made for non-voting positions. All members are eligible to apply for any executive positions.
